In Australia, Naturopathy is not a government-regulated profession; therefore, no set qualifications are required to become a Naturopath. However, it is necessary to complete an approved qualification to obtain insurance and register with the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS). Being registered with the ATMS has numerous benefits and demonstrates a commitment to high standards in the industry.
As the only ATMS-accredited college in Australia to offer non-Bachelor qualifications in Naturopathy, Nutrition, Western Herbal Medicine, and Homoeopathy, we are uniquely qualified to help you start your career as a natural health practitioner. Our Advanced Diploma programs are recognised by the ATMS and will make you eligible for membership and accreditation. Plus, as a student enrolled in one of our Advanced Diploma programs, you'll be eligible for FREE student membership with the ATMS and all the benefits it brings.

The work is not daunting; instead, they have managed to present it in a way that is appealing and gets you excited to study more.
Aesthetics aside, I am undertaking the Advanced Diploma of Naturopathic Practice which, to my great delight, is recognized by the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS) – this was critical criteria for me when choosing where to study. Having an association membership is a priority for me (and should be for you) so signing up after hearing this was really a no-brainer. The content is up to date with an abundance of useful links for further study, I’m even learning things from the monthly newsletters!
I had been searching for a few months to find a way to study Naturopathy that would fit with the flexible lifestyle I wanted to have and our country in South Australia. Having previously been at University and travelling for over 2 1/2 hours a day to attend classes, I knew that flexible online study was going to be the only way that I could fit study around my role as a mother to my four sons, and also not have the many hours of travel time. At Switch On Health I can study on my own time, at my own pace, and around my other commitments, and I have no travel time to factor into my studies. This flexible learning style suits my family and me. I have even taken my studies on the road, travelling Australia for eight months.
I have found the subjects interesting and very comprehensive, and the support offered has been far above the standard I have experienced at other Colleges and Universities.

At Switch on Health, we have a dedicated Clinic Coordinator who works to maintain our network of practitioners across the country to help you complete your required clinical hours. Naturopathy requires 400 hours. These hours can be completed with one or more practitioners in your local area.

Can I get recognition of prior learning?
Is there a practical component?
To meet industry standards, you must complete ‘200 ‘Clinic hours’ for Nutrition/Western Herbal Medicine/Homoeopathy or 400 hours for Naturopathy. These can be completed with one or more practitioners in your local area. Due to the norming of telehealth, up to 50% of your Clinic hours can now be completed online, so you can also complete hours with practitioners in other states.
Switch on Health has a dedicated Clinic Coordinator who maintains our network of practitioners around the country to facilitate your completion of the Clinic. *We cannot guarantee availability in your location, however, will assist you with this as best as we can.
You can study at your own pace, however, to complete your 15 hours per week for Naturopathy. Naturopath course

- Up to 18 months for enrolment into a Year on an 18-month payment plan

Diploma of Naturopathy Online
The Advanced Diploma of Naturopathic Practice is not a nationally recognised qualification under the Australian Qualification Framework. It does not lead to issuance of AQF documentation such as a Statement of Attainment. It is however recognised by the Australian Traditional-Medicine Society who are the largest professional association representing natural therapies in Australia, and the only natural medicine practitioner association appointed to two Commonwealth statutory committees. Switch on Health is not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
